New Music Friday: Kelley Jeanne, Jenny Teator, Larysa Jaye, Lauren Anderson & Justine Blazer

We wanted to kick off this long weekend with a double header of music bringing you not two but FOUR new tracks gracing the New Music Friday playlist! All their own brand of country music, all pool-party-ready for whatever your Memorial Day celebrations may be!

Kelley Jeanne”Who Says” (Country if I Wanna Be)

Kelley Jeanne, a longtime supporter of Music on The Move Studios, is a Pittsburgh-native who is challenging the definition of what it means to be country. While most would assume being “country” either has to do with your physical geographical location or what type of town you grew up in, Kelley defies those expectations by listing why country is a state of mind and not just a place. With her gritty/smokey vocals, you can hear how authentically Kelley believes in the words she sings. “It doesn’t matter who you are or where you’re from, if you want to do something or be something, JUST GO FOR IT! What’s the worst that can happen…being from Pittsburgh originally, people would tell me I’m not country, so for me this song was a journey of proving to people that I AM country, this is who I am”

Jenny Teator “Lotus Rising”

Our favorite Rhinestone-Rockstar has released yet another anthemic single! This song is inspired not only by Teator’s niece who was born with spina bifida and has defied odds despite what doctors had previously predicted. The song is a “tribute to the unwavering resilience of women.” In true Jenny Teator style, we get a sing-a-long “oh” moment that makes us all feel like we are together singing this and rising “straight from the mud.” “(This song) pays homage to all of the women in my life and all women who face adversity head-on, emerging stronger and more beautiful than ever before!” The accompanying video for the song releases today as well on Jenny’s YouTube channel.

Larysa Jaye “The Thoughts That Happen”

Larysa Jaye released a song inspired by her own experience as a single mother and the song she used to sing to herself while getting ready for the day. Initially, it was a running to-do list she would sing through. Then, when she sat down to write the song, it became a combination of everything mother’s have to do mentally and physically for their children. “Mama’s gotta keep a smile while the world’s weighing her down,” a line that every mother can relate to as well as the bridge where she asks “...am I strong, good, woman enough?” The vulnerability in Jaye’s voice is transparent throughout the entire song. Featured both on WSM and Today in Nashville, this song promises to remain timeless and a reminder to all mothers out there that they’re not the only ones feeling the way they feel!

Lauren Anderson & Justine Blazer “Ain’t No Cure Like The Blues”

We love when two powerhouses team up! Blues singers Lauren Anderson and Justine Blazer deliver straight from note one. This upbeat song lists the usual vices and cures that people typically use to get over a slum and compares them to the feelings they get when they listen to and sing the blues. “I can’t quite describe what it does to me but it moves through my soul, brings me to my knees. Always knows what I’m going through, cause there ain’t no cure like the blues.” Styled in true 12-bar fashion, we get gritty guitar and harmonica solos, soulful ad-libs, and more reasons to love the classic genre.
