New Music Friday: Rachel Lipsky, Arily Michele, & Zoe Jean Fowler

We’ve got a wide array of emotions for you this week on New Music Friday! Starting with a nostalgic 90’s country vibe, then two introspective songs about two entirely different emotions. Check out our playlist on Spotify to hear it all!

First up, we have Rachel Lipsky with “Wonky Tonk.” A classic country song about letting go and letting your hair down at the bar. Lipsky’s vocals and production are as if Jennifer Nettles and Terri Clark fused together for one great “girls night out” song. If there isn’t already, this song begging for its own line dance! It’s no surprise after you listen to this song that Rachel Lipsky has done 7 tours with the US Armed Forces Entertainment all over the world. We can definitely hear this one being a favorite in her sets!

Next up is “Pink Clouds” by Arily Michele. Released on June 1st specifically for Pride month, the dream-like state of the song gives an insight to young Arily’s inner monologue when she was trying to figure out her own identity. With a theme everyone in the LGBTQ+ community can relate to, “Kind of hard to speak my mind, I just feel like hiding all the time,” the song ends triumphantly with Arily being proud to be who she is. With Nashville Pride coming up next weekend, this is a great song for those who need a reminder of how far they’ve come in owning who they are.

Lastly, we have a beautifully sad song from Zoe Jean Fowler. It’s not often you get a country ballad from the perspective of the one who cheated, and especially not one that’s lyrical content is so vulnerable and specific. In her own words, “Better Woman came from a moment of vulnerability, remembering a relationship I had brutally ruined and how that regret has stayed with me long past its end. It was written in our Nashville studio with Alyssa Newton and producer Kendall Fowler who added heartbreaking elements like weeping pedal steel, warm acoustic guitars, and a post-bridge dynamic shift that matches song to message.”

Stay tuned for more new music coming next week and every Friday!
