New Music Friday: “Saint” by Kayla Lunden

This week we are featuring a brand new face on our blog and “New Music Friday” playlist on Spotify. Kayla Lunden is a Nashville based indie folk singer songwriter, originally from Syracuse, New York. The up and coming artist released her newest single, “Saint,” on Sunday, March 10th on all streaming platforms and people can not get enough of it!

Kayla first started writing the song on her back porch in East Nashville and finished the song 3 months later in the Grimey’s record store parking lot. Opening up about the fight between future dreams and past “ghost,” Kayla opens up the delicate song with a building acoustic guitar. Following the guitar, Kayla’s seasoned voice gets vulnerable with the very first lyric, “I’m afraid to say what’s on my mind.”

This song is a deep and intimate look into what Kayla has struggled with. The duality between being a human and being caught in a really hard place. Kayla takes her listeners through a wide range of emotions throughout this song which allows them to connect even more deeply with her.
