New Music Friday: Olivia Frances & Clare Cunningham

This week’s New Music Friday features a new face to our community, Olivia Frances, and our favorite Irish songstress, Clare Cunningham!

Olivia Frances - Make Myself Like You

We are introduced to Olivia’s vocals with a breathy tone stating “I wish I could make myself like You.” Initially we are lead to believe the song is about comparing yourself to someone else but, in an interesting twist, instead takes us on a journey of forcing ourselves to have feelings for someone that just aren’t there. “I just don’t feel the spark between us, do you know where they could be?” She asks the “really sweet” person she’s on a date with. With the paired down production and the overall low-key vibe of the song, Olivia takes allows the listener to experience her inner monologue as she tries to figure out what to do in this all-too- relatable situation.

Clare Cunningham - Mic Drop

In an admitted “twist,” of her own sound, Clare Cunningham dropped a single today with Alton Lee. The single “Mic Drop” is a Christian rock/rap anthem where Clare’s powerful, gritty vocals take over the chorus. In this quick 2:44 song, Cunningham and Lee give us a high-octane performance with soaring vocals and clean, rhythmic verses. Think: Linkin Park does Christian music. While we have featured Clare’s music before on the blog, we’ve enjoyed watching her musical journey while her sound continuously evolves.
