New Music Friday: February 2025
We are back with New Music Friday for the month of February! Our Music on The Move community certainly delivered this month not only with new singles and EPs but also we announced our Spring Lineup for the April 2nd Showcase!
This month we have new releases from past showcase performers and HellCats, Jenny Teator, Lips Speak Louder, Allie Colleen, and a new release from the late Larysa Jaye.
Jenny Teator - Wall of Hearts
The song is deeply personal, chronicling Jenny’s journey through heartbreak and self-discovery. After years of falling into the same patterns—seeking relationships where she felt she could "fix" her partner—Jenny found herself building an emotional barrier, a "wall of broken hearts." This all changed when one man managed to break through those walls, inspiring her to give love one last chance. Their story culminates in a joyous twist: Jenny recently got engaged to this very man, making "Wall of Broken Hearts" a celebration of resilience, love, and hope.
Lips Speak Louder - “Lose My Head”
"Lose My Head" -- the band's fifth single release to-date -- features renowned rock guitarist/songwriter/producer Emily Wolfe, who also produced their upcoming album. "Lose My Head” captures the spiraling that can come with trying to make sense of an increasingly chaotic and anxiety-inducing world and was inspired, as LSL guitarist Rachel Brandsness describes it, by the way it can feel “from reading the news at any given time.” With its catchy, dance-style beat and honest, vulnerable lyrics, the track delivers the sense of a constant barrage of chaos, while Wolfe’s searing guitar contributions take the song to an even more riotous level. It will be available Friday on all DSPs: https://linktr.ee/lipsspeaklouder.
LSL's debut album, titled Consolation Prize, will be released digitally and on vinyl on Friday, April 25.
Allie Colleen — “Sincerely” EP
If you’ve ever heard Allie Colleen live, like we had the privilege of doing back in March of 2021 at one of our acoustic showcases, you know she’s a powerhouse. It’s no wonder that the independent artist was put on Jelly Roll’s most recent tour as an opener and duet partner.
Her latest EP, “Sincerely” is a collection of songs that detail exactly who she is. Like so many musicians, she highlights the need and want to be on the road in the song “Rolling Stone (Sincerely.”) which gave the project it’s name. She holds nothing back as “Oklahoma Mountains” and “Household Name” highlight her struggles in the music industry as an independent artist but also, trying to create her own way “in the trails that he blazed.” (of course speaking of her father, country music legend, Garth Brooks,) The final song, “Nicotine” gives us an insight to her softer side without losing that “Outlaw Country” grit we’ve come to know and love.
Larysa Jaye - “Walk Away”
In anticipation of Larysa Jaye’s lyric memoir book and upcoming album this summer, her team decided to release an entire new song to remind everyone that “her story and music will live on.”
The song itself is about emotional conflict. Knowing that you need to let go but don’t entirely want to. “(it captures) the inner battle between love and self-awareness.”
Music on The Move will be honoring Larysa’s legacy at our next showcase on April 2nd with special guest performances of her songs by Katie Basden, Lauren Anderson, and Jenny Teator.
