New Music Friday: Alex Allegra & Cassie Fireman
Happy New Music Friday! What a week it has been, with our showcase at The Basement East on Monday and Caitie renovating the podcast studio, it feels good to see the weekend approaching. We’ve got two great new tunes this week to ring in this beautiful, first official spring weekend!
Released earlier this week, appropriately on Monday’s Spring Equinox, Alex Allegra’s ‘Color (Bloom)’ opens up this week’s playlist! “Looking up into the sky, see the stars that shine so bright are the ones I hung myself” - ‘Color’ is a song of self-actualization, hope, and finding the beauty in the nuances of day-to-day life. Whether you’re looking for a fresh start to the day, to the season, or just to uplift yourself from one moment of uncertainty to the next, ‘Color’ is a great song to revive your spirits!
In the spirit of seeing the color within the touch of grey, Cassie Fireman finishes off this week’s songs with her single, ‘Chase’. According to Cassie, “‘Chase’ shines a light on love’s unbound, contagious energy—the storm fears that get kicked up along the way and the unexpected freedom that awaits us when we’re brave enough to peek outside the box of what scares us most.” A tale of someone who’s afraid to commit for fear of the loss of adventure and independence, ‘Chase’ challenges the listener to question what it means to truly commit to loving someone, and how that act in and of itself can be freeing in its own right, even when it feels frightening.
