New Music Friday Playlist: Holiday Edition Part 3

‘Tis the damn season, or whatever Taylor Swift says. The holidays are known to be a season of giving gifts and, of course, sharing love.

But what if you share the gift of your love to someone special and, instead of holding it safely, they stomp it to bits and discard it easier than this year’s wrapping paper?

Well, instead of throwing their hearts into the snowy abyss, leaving them to freeze over and become impenetrable, this week’s featured artists made catchy holiday tunes instead! A relief to the Grinchy, three sizes too small hearts of the world; these holiday bops are bound to get you bouncing around the room and your blood pumping!

Kevin McCallister would be impressed with this week’s first artist, Cat Stone, and her song ‘Home Alone’. Spinning a tale of a stolen heart, Stone paints a picture-perfect marriage’s end, regaling the listener with visions of sweet revenge, and the decision to stay ho-ho-home alone instead of trying to fill a void. This upbeat soon-to-be-classic is great for your holiday or break-up playlist!

This week’s other featured song is a twangy spin on a modern classic. Charly Reynolds comes through this week with her rendition of Wham!’s quintessential holiday pop bop ‘Last Christmas’! In addition to gifting us this holiday banger, the late, great George Michael also sings of an important message: give your heart to someone special! Be discerning this cuffing season, folks! Whether you’re holding your shattered, rejected heart to your chest this year or just looking for an upbeat tune to play at your office holiday party, Reynolds’ take is sure to get you singing along and belting your Christmas woes away!
