Mental Health, and Why You Should Prioritize It

Monday was “National Mental Health Day,” so I took a moment to just play my guitar and breathe with everyone during Music Minute Monday. It is so very important that through the hustle and bustle of our everyday work, we have to take time to reset.

If you’re in the industry, you know that musicians don’t always have the greatest mental health. We are consistently looking for the next best gig, lyric, or medium to get our art to the ears of the world. It’s hard out there. Everyone has their own opinion of “how to do it right,” and so when your social feeds are constantly flooded with “tips” on what you should be doing without actually giving you real information, your mind can turn to tapioca pudding in two seconds.

Remember to be kind to yourselves, and take a breath at the exact time that you need it. Sometimes, that project that you’ve been toiling over needs space, and you need space from it. There’s no shame in stepping away for a moment or more. When we can come back fresh with a new perspective, and the creative juices begin to flow again.

In case you missed it, here’s this week’s Music Minute Monday. Take a breath with me and reset. You’ve got this.
