A Day in the Life: Gerard Longo
What does a day in my life look like? Who knows?! Sometimes, not even me!
My name is Gerard Longo. You might know me as the Founder/CEO of Underground Music Collective, and the host of its Official Podcast, The Quinn Spinn (which turns 10 this summer!). In addition, I provide marketing and SEO support here at Music on the Move Studios. Oh, and I’m an artist coach, social media manager, photographer, amateur fitness influencer, 13-time Uncle of the Year, the self-appointed Sheriff of the nation’s largest free, non-gated music festival, and probably some other things.
So… how do I keep it all in order? Easy — I DON’T! :)
However… there are a few pillars that are important to my life and entrepreneurial journey, and I make sure I fit them into every day. They are…
Daily movement: Sometimes, it’s strength training. Or, maybe it’s yoga, taught for free by my friend Lauren Gomance every Tuesday and Thursday at Nashville’s Church St. Park. Other times, it’s a functional workout, cardio, or both (I’ve invented my own “functional cardio” workouts that I really enjoy). No matter what, I always make sure I get up and MOVE — it clears the cobwebs, improves my energy levels, and gets me ready to face what’s next!
Creating things: Running the #1 “Nashville music blog” on Earth (according to Google) has its perks. Not the least of which is the fact that I get to listen to (and create content about) fresh, new independent music. I’m also always tinkering with new business concepts, and once in a while, I’ll even get to have a deep conversation on the podcast that started this wacky journey about a decade ago! I have even more ideas than that, but there are only so many hours in the day. We’ll get to those in another year (or decade).
Client projects: As much as I enjoy creating on my own, I also have tons of fun working with creatives all over the country on their projects. I’ve been a social media manager and consultant for independent artists since 2018. And, this past March, I took my decade of experience navigating the creative journey and officially launched our UMC Coaching program — which, at this very moment, might be the most exciting project of all! I love helping clients organize their thoughts, gain clarity on their values, and spark ideas that will lead them toward their creative visions. So, if you’re into that kind of thing, I’d love to help you!
There you have ‘em — a few activities that are essential to my day. I left a couple out, like eating and sleeping, because A) they’re obvious, and B) I probably don’t do either one as much as I should.
What activities are essential to your day? Feel free to reach out here and let me know!
